A Culturally Rich and Sustainable Suburb

Lyons is a master-planned suburb in Darwin’s northern region, developed through a collaborative agreement between the Lyons Development Corporation, Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation, and the Northern Land Council. Established in 2004 and named after senior Larrakia elder Tommy Imabulg Lyons, the suburb spans 77 hectares and was designed to integrate cultural heritage with modern residential living. The development features Larrakia-named streets and parks, public art installations depicting Larrakia stories, and a commitment to employing and training Larrakia people during construction.

The suburb predominantly comprises low-density residential zones (approximately 75%), complemented by organized recreation spaces and public open areas . As of the 2016 census, Lyons had a population of 2,302, with a median age of 27 years, reflecting a youthful and family-oriented community.

Our Role

Norman Global Projects served as the client-side project manager for the Lyons development. Our responsibilities encompassed strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with contractors to ensure the project’s alignment with community needs and regulatory frameworks. We are committed to delivering infrastructure that not only meets but exceeds expectations in terms of sustainability, cultural sensitivity, and operational excellence.
